Job Summary
As a Financial Risk Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks that could impact the company's balance sheet, earnings, and long-term sustainability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Actuarial, Investment, Finance, and Compliance, and play a key role in enterprise risk management and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of key financial risks, including market, credit, liquidity, and insurance risks.
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the company’s financial resilience.
- Develop and maintain risk models and frameworks in compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) requirements and other regulatory guidelines.
- Work closely with Investment and Finance teams to evaluate risk-return trade-offs and support strategic asset allocation.
- Provide risk insights to support decision-making at Board and senior management levels.
- Prepare regular risk reports for management committees, Board Risk Committee, and regulators.
- Monitor emerging risks, market trends, and regulatory developments impacting the insurance sector.
- Support risk-based capital (RBC) calculations and ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) exercises.
- Drive continuous improvement in risk governance, policies, and tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g. FRM, CFA, FSA) are an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in risk management, preferably in insurance or financial services.
- Strong understanding of insurance risk, investment risk, and regulatory frameworks (e.g. BNM’s RBC framework, IFRS 17).
- Proficiency in risk modeling, data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, R, Python, SAS), and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
